Badosa vs Tomljanovic: prediction for the WTA Sydney match
Paula Badosa enjoyed her breakout season in 2021 and she is currently the World No. 9 player. But Spaniard had not the best start to 2022 season.
At the opening Adelaide tournament Badosa was unable to put up a fight against Victoria Azarenka (3:6, 2:6). She managed to beat an inconsistent Ostapenko (7:6, 6:1) at Sydney tournament. We should note that Ostapenko had a chance to win the first set, but lost the decisive game at her serve.
Ajla Tomljanovic already played three matches since the start of the season. Last week, Australian player beat Heather Watson (6:4, 7:6) and then fell to Sofia Kenin in a thrilling three set match (6:3, 6:7, 3:6) at Adelaide.
Tomljanovic started the Sydney competition with a match against Schmiedlova. Aussie left no chance to the opponent (6:2, 6:3). Tomljanovic put up a perfect receiving performance in this match - she won 57% of points on the receive.
This bet played in each of three most recent matches of Badosa
In two out of three Tomljanovic's matches in the current season tiebreaks were played
Paula Badosa is having problems at the start of a new season. Spanish player had no chance in the match against Azarenka, losing in straight sets, and also was close to losing a set to Ostapenko. Tomljanovic is playing at home, so she won't have problems with motivation, plus she gained form in three matches since the start of the year. We believe that Australian player will hold on to a plus handicap.
Our prediction - Tomljanovic to win with a handicap of (+5) games
Both players are out of form and are making many mistakes, which leads to long matches and tiebreaks. We are expecting at least 20 games to be played in this match.
Our second bet is on total over 20 games
